London is so much fun!

Well with all my challenges out of the way, I figured it was time to try someone else's challenge. On July 28, Helen posted an archery challenge. You can check it out here.  I like how this layout of Easter photos turned out. I also LOVED using my feathers! I've been saving them up but didn't know how to use them. Thank you Helen!!

It was a lot of fun using so many old things from my stash! When I to list them under "supplies", there are many unknowns! Feels good. :-)

With this layout, I also managed to squeeze in under the wire as far as the July Sketch Sundays go. Now that's an accomplishment!

Again in LONDON 2012

In case you haven't been following, Sisterhood of Scrap's LONDON 2012 Olympic Crop is going on from July 27 to August 3. Challenges, inspiration, games and prizes are all up for grabs!

July 31 was my final challenge for this crop. I drew Rhythmic Gymnastics as my sport for the day. You can check out the particulars of the challenge here but remembering that it's one of only two strictly female sports at the Olympics should give you a good hint as to the nature of the challenge. :-)

Here's my example for the crop:

Gabby loves to get her nails done. In between getting messy with art, getting dirty in the sandbox, playing rough with the dog, she still loves her girl time with momma...  This is the day she changed her orange nail polish for the hot pink she'd picked out all by herself....  She has such fun with it - a well-rounded little girl to be sure!

LONDON 2012

Over at Sisterhood of Scrap, we're celebrating the London 2012 Olympics! Come on over and play!

I was asked to provide a challenge for July 29 and I chose the discipline of swimming. Here's my challenge and my layout.

Hugely popular around the world as a leisure activity and a competitive sport, Swimming has featured at every modern Olympic Games. Speed, strength and stamina will be key for athletes in the competition which features no fewer than 34 medal events.
You can read more about swimming as an Olympic sport here.
Your challenge for this Olympic event is simple. You need to make a layout (or three cards) featuring these four things:

1. water
2. people
3. the colour blue
4. bling

Someone who understands

We all want that person in our life who understands, even when they don't really say anything. Just their warm (and in this case, furry) presence is all that's needed to make a day special.

Murphy is such a good pup. He puts up with alot of  "abuse" from the toddlers, but loves every minute of it. He's never gotten grouchy or temperamental with them. He rarely barks and loves to give kisses (he and Hugo are the same height!)....  He's the perfect little pal for Gabby. She takes him places and snuggles with him and loves him to bits. Caught this "moment" on a Very Good Day.

This layout was completed for a challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap's Summer School. It was a daily layout challenge in which we were given some "homework" every day and added it to our layout, not knowing what the final page would look like.

Friendship

Good morning all. It's been a busy week around here. This was supposed to be my week "off" but it hasn't turned out that way! I broke my sewing machine on Monday (no, I didn't take a photo) and pulled it apart into a million pieces (no I didn't take a photo). Yesterday I was super-woman and put it all back together! The only piece I had left over was a little spring, but I figured who needed it anyway? LOL

Yesterday I sewed two squares for a quilt project I'm participating in with some dear friends in the States. Today I'm mailing the squares off to be joined to the others. I'll show you the squares another day. Today I'm super excited to show you this layout. It's one of the ones I worked on over the weekend.

We got the photo from her dad's dropbox folder. In the series, she was jumping with great gusto on her bed but in this photo, she seems to pause to contemplate her next move (or so we presume). We thought it was a fabulous shot that just had to be scrapped! The photo is totally untouched.. her cheeks really were that red!

Reading Rumble!

Hello all!

Did you think I've forgotten all about you? Life has been a little hectic this week with the remodel of my scrap room. My darling hubby took the week off work and decided that it was important to make the room finally fit "me" instead of me trying to fit into the room! I'm so excited! I really should have been taking photos all along but I've been working on other things and have been forgetting. Forgive me!

I have moved my scrap "desk top" to my dining table and there's a fine mess there right now. One of the projects that I have been working on is this layout about my grand daughter preferring to "rassel" with the dog than reading a book with her Mommy!

I used this simple sketch from Sketches: Creatively Yours this week. Check out the blog  today for the other girls' designs!

In case you were missing them

here's another layout featuring the two cutest grandkids in the world!  Saturday night I participated in a one-hour crop over at Sisterhood of Scrap. It was so much fun! I'm glad I was able to stay awake for it. :-)

The entire month of January, these two delighted in dumping the dog's toys out of this basket. Their mom finally decided enough was enough, put them in the basket and we took their picture!

Staying cool in the pool!

Did you have a good weekend? We're having freaky weather here these days - I don't know what happened to Spring, but they're calling for a humidex of 30º Celcius this week. Yikes! 

What better way to start thinking about the warm seasons approaching than to scrap some fun, summer pics. Featuring not only a photo from last summer, but some of last year's delicious Echo Park "Summertime" collection, this layout was done for a challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap. Check it out here!

Those eyes..

One thing my granddaughter is often complimented on is her eyes. I just loved this photo that we took in January. She had her hair pulled back into a ponytail and just looked so demure and grown up. She was actually washing a sinkful of tupperwear and having a whale of a time with water and bubbles!

This paper line is appropriately called "Gabrielle". It's a Bo Bunny collection from last year. I did this layout in response to the challenge posted at Sisterhood of Scrap for this leg of the Amazing Race. Check it out!

I loved the soft browns against the bright blue of her eyes. What do you think?

Last week

I finished off the Sisterhood of Scrap challenges for February. This last challenge was the hardest. Jackie reminded us of the dangers of high blood pressure. She asked  us to use ribbon in five different ways on our layouts to represent our arteries and veins that transport blood through out bodies. Here's what I came up with:

I chose to use ribbon in the border under the photo, a tulle flower, ribbon "leaves", a ribbon pull on the journal card, and a white ribbon border to add texture and dimension to the side of the photo.

This my adorable grand-daughter at her Christening in May 2010.

First Sketch!

Hi everyone,

Today is an exciting day! It's not only my hubby's 50th birthday, but it's also the day that the new design team is featured for the first time over at S:CY!  Here is my interpretation of sketch #7-12 (seen below):

A couple of new projects

March is here like a LION!!  I hope that means it's going out like a lamb. :-)

Hi everyone, I've been madly working to finish up the February challenges over at Sisterhood of Scrap and using some of the fun paper I got in my last DT haul  from Tina's Scrapbooking  I love it when Tina gives me paper that pushes me out of any sort of "rut" I may be tempted to find myself in! LOL

This first layout is using the very new and very sweet Imaginisce Spring 2012 release "Hippity Hop"  You'll be seeing more of this sweet paper in the coming weeks, that's for sure! It's adorable.

I used the Sisterhood of Scrap challenge #10 - sign 4 of a stroke is headaches. We were to use a photo that was a distinct headshot. I found these older photos of Hannah that suited the paper and the challenge fairly well, I thought.

This particular layout was done using the new hockey collection by Karen Foster I used it to do another Sisterhood of Scrap challenge - this time Challenge #11 - swirls. The fifth sign of a stroke is dizziness. I used metal swirls (really ornament hooks from the $ store!) behind each skate to represent this.

This last layout for today is of my sweet grand-daughter Gabby and her friend here at Nana's house, Bekah. They were modelling hats made my a good friend of mine this past Christmas. I used the LYB Winter Twig collection from Tina's. I also completed another SOS challenge. This time it was #12 - overweight.
